Protocol

1. A custom or regulation directing cleaning approach and safety, a guideline, 2. an original draft or work plan for blood cleanup, 3. an additonal agreement to standard operating procedures, 4. an agreement between biohazard cleaners establishing chain of command in the field. Example: Field protocols direct the inclusion of one responsible party in a working environment and no more; bloodborne pathogen protocols give guidance for appropriate PPE by environmental risk assessment.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) - The way it's done. A set of standards for varoius tasks, duties, jobs. May include rules for telephone calls, such as using "proper terms." Such terms, for example, may include negative, positive, say again, and do you copy?

Hand washing throughout the day qualifies as SOP. Defensive driving qualifies as SOP.
